Kathy Kerr, 75, formerly of Troy, OH died January 16, 2017 at JTDM Hospital in St. Marys, OH with family at her side.

She was born November 19, 1941 to Judge Ellis and Lucile (Will) Kerr of Troy, OH.

Survivors include: daughter Kristin Sanders of Dayton, OH and Megan (Jeff) Sanders-Brown of Crown Pointe, IN.

2 grandchildren: Kylei Brown of Crown Pointe, IN and Tyler Brown of Columbus, OH.

2 sisters: Karol (Robert) McCarthy of Troy, OH and Lucy (Thomas dec’d) Swisher of Lexington, KY.

5 nephews

A graduate of Troy High School, she attended Ohio Wesleyan University, prior to earning BA and MA degrees from the University of Dayton.

She was employed as a special education teacher and reading specialist for many years in Ohio and Virginia.

In 2007, Kathy moved to Otterbein Retirement Community in St. Marys, OH, after being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. Although given a 3 – 5 year life expectancy, she waged a successful battle against this illness for 10 years.

While at Otterbein, she volunteered on several committees and helped others in the community for as long as her condition permitted.

Private family services are planned.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to either Otterbein – St. Marys, Grand Lake Hospice Program or Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
