Marjorie Zimmerman, 51, of 825 Dorothy Lane, Saint Marys, died 5:45 A.M. Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at her residence, following a four year battle with cancer.
She was born October 23, 1958, in Saint Marys, the daughter of Robert and Jewell (Horn) Haskell, Sr.
She is survived by her siblings: Patsy Maher (Bob Gerstner) of Saint Marys; Robert (Cheryl) Haskell, Jr. of Troy, Tennessee; Paula Wagner of Lima; Lisa (Gregory) Thompson of Celina; by her dog, Simon; by 14 nieces and nephews; by some very special friends who assisted her during her illness, Pam Faller of Celina and Scott and Heather Bowersock of Saint Marys.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents and by her eleven year old daughter, Lendsay Zimmerman, who died on September 9, 1999.
Margie was a 1977 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. She had been employed at K-Mart Corporation for 29 years, where she had served as the District Loss Control Manager and also as Assistant Manager of the Saint Marys store. She was a member and past president of the Saint Marys Optimist Club; a member of American Legion Post 323 Auxiliary and Eagles 767 Auxiliary. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Saint Marys. She died at home, as was her wish, with her family and friends at her side.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 5, 2010, at the Grace United Methodist Church, the Reverend Jon Kraner, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to either Grace United Methodist Church or Saint Ritas Hospice.
