Sergeant Ernest “Brian” Zimmerman, 40, of 418 South Wayne Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, died 1:20 A.M. Friday, November 13, 2009, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital following a three year battle with cancer.

He was born August 29, 1969, in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, the son of Ernest and Patricia Zimmerman, Sr. His father is deceased and his mother survives in Malvern, Pennsylvania.

He married Kozue Suzuki on January 18, 1999; she survives at the residence.

He is also survived by his daughter, Stephanie Zimmerman; by his mother, Patricia Zimmerman of Malvern, Pennsylvania; by a brother, Michael Neal of Malvern, Pa; by his in-laws, Yasuo and Keiko Suzuki of Tokyo, Japan.

He was preceded in death by his father; a step-brother, a sister, Gabrielle and his grandparents.

Brian graduated from high school in Malvern, Pa. He pursued a career in Military Intelligence, first serving in the US Marine Corps; US Navy and was currently an E5 Sergeant, United States Army, serving as a military intelligence analyst. He was currently stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and going camping. He was Roman Catholic by faith.

Mass of Christian will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 19, 2009, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Saint Marys, Ohio, the Reverend Anthony Cutcher, celebrant. Burial, with full military honors , will follow at Dayton National Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio. Sergeant Zimmerman will be honored by a military contingent from Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, where memorial donations may be made to a fund established to pay for his daughter’s college expenses.
