Leora Jean Youngs, 80, of 805 West South Street, Saint Marys, died Thursday, July 1, 2010, at her residence.

She was born July 28, 1929, in Saint Marys, the daughter of Lester and Estella (Orphal) Hess.

She married E.J. “Bud” Youngs on November 27, 1948 and he preceded her in death on May 4, 1990.

She is survived by her daughter, Candace Youngs of Saint Marys and by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lester Hess; and by her husband.

Jean was a 1948 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. She had been a secretary and was a licensed stock broker. In later years she worked at the State of Ohio Unemployment Office in Saint Marys.

She loved watching TV and working crossword puzzles. She enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and she spent the past 24 winters in Florida. One of her favorite things to do was attend family gatherings and spend time with her many nieces and nephews and their families. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys and the Altar Society of the church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, Father Anthony Cutcher, celebrant. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-7 P.M. Tuesday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to Friends of Holy Rosary School or Grand Lake Hospice.
