Treva Mae Yost, 98, of 11300 Circle Drive, Saint Marys, and formerly of New Lebanon, Ohio, died 9:00 P.M. Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Otterbein Retirement Community, where she had been a resident since 1990.

 

Treva was born August 27, 1909, in Clayton, Ohio, the daughter of Samuel and Bertha (Wolford) Rhoades.


She married Abram Yost on September 9, 1933; he preceded her in death on June 30, 1991.

 

She is survived by her five children: Dwayne (Elaine) Yost of Manchester, Kentucky; Daryl Yost of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Barbara (Noble) Neidig of Plymouth, Indiana; Marlen (Lynn) Yost of Celina, Ohio; Bonita (Dale) Bowser of Jamestown, Kentucky; by 17 grandchildren and their spouses; 47 great-grandchildren and four of their spouses; 4 great-great-grandchildren.

 

Treva was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters: Grace Keener, Lillian Bunger and Catherine Boggs; by a brother, Robert Brumbaugh; by a daughter-in-law, Joenita Yost; by a granddaughter-in-law, Tina Neidig; by a great-granddaughter, Kaitlin Morgan.

 

She was a 1927 graduate of Randolph Twp. High School (Northmont) and a graduate of the Dayton Junior Teachers’ College. She was a first grade teacher in Clayton for four years and then taught for 21 years for the New Lebanon Public Schools. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren in New Lebanon and attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Celina. She enjoyed Bible study, sewing, crocheting, cooking, gardening and playing dominoes.


Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 25, 2008, in the Meyer Community Room at Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community, State Rt. 364, Saint Marys, Ohio, the Reverend Carol Sainey, officiant. Graveside committal rites will be held at Eversole Cemetery in New Lebanon at 3:30 P.M. Friday.

 

Friends may call from 9:00-11:00 A.M. Friday at Otterbein Saint Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to the Eversole Church of the Brethren or the Otterbein Saint Marys Benevolent Fund in lieu of flowers.
