Ruth E. Wine, 81, 237 Candlewood Place, St.Marys, OH, died 11:29 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007 at St.Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, OH. 

Ruth was born February 9, 1926 in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of Herman C. and Ocia (Apple) Watson. 

She married Rev. John C. Wine on June 1, 1948 in Urbana, OH; he survives at the residence. 

She is survived by:

¨ Son, Rev. Dale (Linda) Wine, Cincinnati, OH

¨ Son, Dr. Douglas (Clarinda) Wine, St.Marys, OH

¨ 10 grandchildren: Dr. Jeffery (Joy) Wine, Janelle (Brad) Thompson, Danae (Josh) Means, Darin Wine, Derek Wine, Dustin Wine, Nate Wine, Jalyn Wine, Jordan Wine and Jillian Wine

¨ 3 great-grandchildren: Caleb, Callie and Carly Means

She was preceded in death by her parents. 

She was a 1944 graduate of Wallbridge High School where she was Homecoming Queen and class valedictorian.  She earned her undergraduate degree from the Olivet Nazarene College in 1948 and her Master’s degree from Wright State University.  She was an educator her entire life, first in Bryant, IN and retiring from the St.Marys City Schools after serving as the 5th grade teacher at East Elementary for many years. 

Ruth was a faithful and active member of the First Church of the Nazarene where she served as the pianist and as the adult Sunday school teacher for 40 years.  She was a founding board member of the Agape Ministries and involved in the Music Club.  Throughout her life she enjoyed caring for people and giving her time to assist them.  She was a devoted wife and mother who inspired her sons and a loving grandmother who was always there to provide guidance.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 1, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 390 Indiana Ave., St.Marys, OH, with the Rev. Daniel Wine and Rev. Tim Smith officiating.  Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St.Marys, OH.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007 at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St.Marys, OH from 2 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to either the First Church of the Nazarene or the Agape Ministries.
