Wesley W. Wierwille, age 58, of San Diego, California, and formerly of Dublin, Ohio, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on January 18, 2008. He lost his eight month battle with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML).

Wes was born on May 10, 1949 to Woodrow and Elois (Dicke) Wierwille of St. Marys, OH. He was active in the Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and earned the God and Country award. He graduated from Memorial High School in St. Marys, OH in 1967; Bowling Green State University (B.S. in Business) in 1971 and Golden Gate University (M.B.A) in 1980. He attained the rank of captain in the United States Army Reserves. Wes spent 36 years with Operations Management Systems in Ohio and California and most recently with Allied Systems, LTD in San Diego.

Wes married Cheryl Lynne Burke of Findlay, OH on June 18, 1972 after meeting at BGSU. In 1975 Wes and Cheryl followed their spirit of adventure and moved to California. Wes was a man of versatile talents and interests. His passions included golfing, boating, hunting, camping, home design projects, community service, and traveling the world.

Wes was proceeded in death by his father and former mayor of St. Marys, Woody, in 1982. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl of Encinitas, CA.; mother Elois Wierwille and sister Carol Wierwille of Columbus, OH.; sister Diane DeLong of Louisville, KY.; in-laws Clark (Cricket) and Nedra Burke of Findlay, OH.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, R. Scott and Maly Burke and nephew and nieces, Christian, Noelle and Lauryn Burke all of San Diego, CA.; aunt and uncle, Evelyn and Rolla Werts of St. Marys, OH.
Funeral rites will held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 26, 2008, at the St.Paul’s United Church of Christ, St.Marys, the Reverend Brian Burke, the Reverend Dr. David Burke, the Reverend Richard Wierwille and the Reverand Ed Bray officiating. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.  Friends may call from 6:00 – 9:00 PM on Friday, January 25, 2008 at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, OH.

Wes had a positive impact on so many lives. Wes was an avid reader, enjoyed a stimulating conversation, and a fine glass of wine with family and friends. He will be missed.
