Eddie V. Wiener, 80, of 870 Hillcrest Drive, Saint Marys, Ohio, died 3:57 P.M. Friday, September 18, 2009, at the Valley Nursing Home in Saint Marys.

He was born May 19, 1929, in Galion, Ohio, the son of Walter and Helen (Holt) Wiener.

He married Louise Houtz on November 16, 1951; she survives at the residence.

He is survived by his four children: William (Glenda) Wiener of Union City, Tennessee;; Barbara (Dennis) Cook of Saint Marys; Douglas (Teri) Wiener of Ada, Ohio; Ann (Dan) Henning of New Bremen; by four grandchildren: Jennifer (Chris) Leapley; Andrew Cook; Douglas Wiener; Tim Henning; by four step-grandchildren; by eight step-great-grandchildren; by a sister, June Wiener of Saint Marys; by a sister-in-law, Shirley (Don) Stienecker of New Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, Robert Wiener.

Eddie was a 1947 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served at the US Naval Hospital.

Eddie returned to Saint Marys after his naval service and began a 27 year career as firefighter for the City of Saint Marys Fire Department. He served as Fire Chief for many years before his retirement.

He enjoyed collecting guns, attending auctions and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of American Legion Post 323.

Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at the Miller Funeral Home,

1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, the Reverend Bill Drummond, officiant. Burial will follow at Lima Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the Miller Funeral Home, where memorial donations may be directed to either Holy Rosary Catholic Church or the Saint Marys Fire Department IAFF Local 3633 Fire Prevention Fund.
