Gwendolyn Walters, 79, formerly of 522 Locust Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, and a resident of the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton, Ohio, died 4:50 A.M. Thursday, October 2, 2008, at the Mennonite Memorial Home.

She was born September 10, 1929, the daughter of Joe and Mae (Shimp) Wurster.

She first married Rolland Kiefer and he survives in Wapakoneta; she later married Gene Walters and he preceded her in death in 1990.

She is survived by her four children: Sandra (Ron) Miller of Wapakoneta; Brenda Kelly of Saint Marys; David (Jean) Kiefer of Saint Marys; Deb (Buddy) Vining of Saint Marys; 5 step-children: Mike (Cathy) Walters, Deb (John) Anders, Ann (Joe) Sink, Pat (Chris) Moore,and Linda Walters;  by five grandchildren: Andrea, Aaron, Joshua, Tiffany,  Jeremy and Ed.; by four great-grandchildren: Austin, Brady, Colby and Lathan; 8 step-grandchildren and 9 step-great-grandchildren; by four sisters: Pat (Fred) Cook of Saint Marys; Delores Bubp of Springfield, Ohio; Marge (Don) Heppeard of Mendon, Sue (Larry) Hecht of New Knoxville; by her former husband, Rolland Kiefer of Wapakoneta.

She was preceded in death by her parents and second husband Gene Walters; by a son in law, Terry Kelly; by a great-granddaughter, Haleigh Marie Albers.

Gwendolyn was a 1947 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School and attended Taylor University.

She had worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Brookside Laboratories in New Knoxville. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Saint Marys, where she had served as church pianist and as a Sunday School teacher.

She enjoyed working in her yard, crocheting and traveling.

Funeral rites will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 6, 2008, at the First Church of the Nazarene, Saint Marys, the Reverend Tim Smith and the Reverend Bob Ellis, officiants. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Friends may call from 2-6 P.M. Sunday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. Condolences may be conveyed to the family via Millerfuneralhomes.net.
