Edna L. Vornholt, 79, formerly of 323 Lane, New Bremen, and a resident of Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community for the past three years, died 7:50 A.M. Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Otterbein Saint Marys following an extended illness.

She was born October 24, 1929, in Shelby County, near New Knoxville, the daughter of Florenz and Hattie (Schneider) Kuck.

She married Charles Vornholt on February 23, 1949; he survives at Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community.

She is also survived by her three children: Jan (Sandy) Vornholt of New Knoxville; Van (Judy) Vornholt of Horn Lake, Mississippi; Amy (Richard) Price of Oakland Township, Michigan; by her three grandchildren: Ryan Vornholt, Jon Vornholt and Sarah Price; by two step-grandsons, David Hawkins and Scott Hawkins; by four step-great-grandchildren; by three brothers: Allen Kuck of Quincy, Ohio; Lloyd (Annette) Kuck of New Knoxville; Darrell (Mary) Kuck of New Knoxville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Homer, John and Ralph Kuck; by her sisters, Wilhelmina Schrolucke and Norma Henschen.

Edna was a 1947 graduate of New Knoxville High School. She was a homemaker and interior decorator. She assisted her husband for 40 years as the co-owner of Vornholt Funeral Homes in New Bremen and New Knoxville. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville; a member of the New Knoxville and New Bremen Historical Societies; also American Legion Auxiliary #241, New Bremen.

Funeral rites will be held 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, the Very Reverend Dr. David Williams, officiant. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Tuesday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to the Radio Broadcast Fund of the Church or Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community Benevolent Fund.
