Darlene “Dolly” Vining, 77, of 219 Maple Street, St.Marys, OH, died 3:02 Sunday, December 28, 2008 at her residence following an extended illness. 

She was born September 14, 1931 in Lima, OH, the daughter of Clarence and Lesta (Siebert) Cross.  They preceded her in death. 

She married Lewis F. Vining on June 6, 1949; he preceded her in death on May 14, 1994. 

She is survived by:

¨ Step-son, Merrill Vining of Findlay, OH

¨ 8 step-grandchildren

¨ 21 step-great-grandchildren

¨ 10 step-great-great -grandchildren

¨ Brother, Ben Cross of Lima, OH

¨ Brother, Jesse Cross of Jackson, MI 

She was preceded in death by her parents;  husband; six brothers: Walter Cross, Lawrence “Hap” Cross, Samuel Cross, Paul Cross, Harry Cross, and an unnamed infant brother; two sisters: Gertrude Stauffer and Grace Zuke. 

Dolly retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in St.Marys after 36.5 years of service.  She enjoyed camping, festivals and craft shows, flower gardening, bird watching, taking long walks with her dog, PJ, and collecting angels and praying hands statuary.

Funeral services will be held 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30,2008 at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St.Marys, OH, Pastor Mike Everage, officiant.  Burial will be held at a later date at Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St.Marys, OH, where memorial donations may be made to Grand Lake Hospice, the Auglaize County Humane Society or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
