Alta Truman, 92, of 202 Ridge Street, Buckland, OH, died at 7:34 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Auglaize Acres Nursing Home, Wapakoneta, OH. 

Alta  was born February 28, 1917 in Lucas County, OH, the daughter of Herman and Minnie (Behm) Rhoda.  Her mother died from complications of childbirth and Alta was then raised by her father and stepmother, Augusta Gahler Rhoda. 

She married Charles Truman on April 28, 1938 in Bellefontaine, OH and he preceded her in death on September 3, 1987. 

She is survived by:

¨ Son, Robert Truman of Grand Rapids, MI

¨ Daughter, Jan Selby (Jeff) Selby of St.Marys, OH

¨ 3 grandchildren

¨ 2 step-grandchildren

¨ 3 great-grandchildren 

She was preceded in death by her father; mother; stepmother,  Augusta Rhoda; her husband; brother, Orville Rhoda; sisters: Virginia Heckel, Lucinda Wurster; and her stepbrother, Marvin Wilka. 

She was a homemaker and was a cook at various area restaurants.  She was a member of St.Mark’s Lutheran Church in Wapakoneta, OH. 

She loved spending time with her family.  She loved to sew. 

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7,2009at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street. St.Marys, OH.  Friends may call from noon until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
