Walter “Red” Thomas, 84, 525 South Mill St., New Knoxville, OH, died Friday, September 7, 2007at the Valley Nursing Home, St.Marys, OH following an
extended illness.
He was born September 20,1922 in Hackett, AR, the son of Albert and Edith (Schlenker) Thomas.
He married Twylah Eschmeyer on June l, 1952; she survives at the residence.
He is survived by:
· Sister-in-law, Donna Larson, New Knoxville, OH
· Sister-in-law, Ruth (Gene) Opperman, New Knoxville, OH
· Numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents; two
brothers, Cecil and Vernie Thomas; by two sisters, Sylvia Richardson and Vergie Stout.
Red was a graduate of Hackett High School, Hackett AR. He enjoyed traveling and reading.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Graveside funeral rites will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 10,2007 at the Evangelical Protestant Cemetery in New Knoxville, OH, the Very Rev. Dr. David Williams, officiating.
Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home, 200 West Spring St., New Knoxville, OH, where memorial donations may be directed to the Radio Broadcast Fund of the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, OH.
