Margaret Wickersham Sommer, 91, of 1423 White Oak Drive, Saint Marys, died 3:15 A.M. Thursday, May 20, 2010, at the Hospice House in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She was born February 22, 1919, in Anderson, Indiana, the daughter of Reverend Ernest and May (Houk) Wickersham.
She married Arlie V. Sommer on June 6, 1937 and he preceded her in death on June 6, 2008.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty Jayne (Allan) Woodmansee of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two grandchildren: Richard (Sarah) Woodmansee of Fishers, Indiana; Susan (Brian Judd) Woodmansee of Newburyport, Massachusetts; numerous nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Grace Sommer of Cincinnati.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and by a brother and sister in law, Henry and June Wickersham..

Margaret was a 1936 graduate of Portland High School in Portland, Indiana. She was formerly employed at the Home Banking Company in Saint Marys.

She was an active member of the Wayne Street United Methodist Church in Saint Marys, and the United Methodist Church Women. She was a founding member of the Homemakers Sunday School class at the church.

She was a Past President of the Saint Marys Progress Club; Saint Marys Drama Club; and a volunteer at Joint Township Hospital in Saint Marys.

Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 24, 2010, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, the Reverend Steve Weatherly, officiant. Burial will follow at the family plot at Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester, Indiana.
