Lawrence M. Slone, Sr., 68, of 04423 Auglaize Co. Road 33-A in St.Marys, OH died 6:20 a.m. Friday April 2, 2010 at his residence.

He was born May 4, 1941 in Pippa Passes, KY to Amos and Sarah (Slone) Slone.

On September 29, 1962, he married Billie Jean Benson, who survives.

son, Larry (Sarah Slone, Jr. of Bluffton, OH

son, Joe Slone of St.Marys, OH

son, George Slone of St.Marys, OH

daughter, Jennifer Slone of Rockford, OH

granddaughter, whom he raised, Heather (Michael) Bonifas of St.Marys, OH

numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren

brother, John (Patricia) Slone of St.Marys, OH

sister, Nancy (Bill) Montague of Celina, OH

He was preceded in death by: parents, son Lawrence Slone, son Todd Slone, granddaughter Felicia Slone

He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.

He retired as a truck driver from the Lancaster Oil Co. in St.Petersburg, FL. Prior to that, he had been employed as a production worker for the St.Marys Foundry Co.

He attended the first Wesleyan Church in St.Marys.

His favorite pastimes include watching NASCAR and playing euchre.

Rites are scheduled 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street in St.Marys, with Pastor Arthur Slone, officiating. Military rites will be conducted following the service at the funeral home.

Visitation 5 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home on High Street.
