Charles was a humble, strong man devoted to his family and enjoying the simpler pleasures that life had to offer. strong, hard-working man who enjoyed the simpler things in life. His family was his top priority, and, when not at the Foundry, devoted all his free time to them. His warm smile and keen sense of humor touched the lives of those who knew him. Following the death of his beloved wife, Mr. Slone focused his attention and love on all his grandchildren, developing a special bond between himself and his great-grandson and “little buddy,” Austin Gottschalk. A nice, sunny day would find him sitting on his front porch, greeting people from the neighborhood as they passed by his home.
