Martin L. Slaven, Sr., 52, of 201 Walnut Street, Apartment A, Saint Marys, died 6:16 A.M. Monday, March 8, 2010, at Saint Ritas Medical Center in Lima.

He was born April 13, 1957, in Martin, Kentucky, the son of Herb and Areda (Hall) Slaven.

He married Judy Reichert on September 14, 2000 and she preceded him in death on April 20, 2005.

He is survived by his three children: Linda (Joel) Castorena of Celina; Martin L. (Krystal) Slaven, Jr. of Celina; Alisha Hoduck of Lima; by thirteen grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; by his siblings: Mary Tremmel of Omaha, Nebraska; Vina Woods of Celina; Herbert (Barb) Slaven, Jr. of Botkins; Debora (Tim) Williams of Saint Marys; Stacey (Tom) Spurlock of Saint Marys; James Slaven of Saint Marys; Vickie Burkhart of Saint Marys.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by three brothers: Charlie Slaven, Larry Hicks and Jackie Hicks; by a sister, Brenda Sue Rose.

Martin had been employed at Fuel Mart in Anna. He enjoyed Nascar racing and gardening.

Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March11, 2010, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to the family.
