Dorothy I. Shelby, 79, formerly of St.Marys, OH, died at her Ft.Myers, FL home on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010. 

She was born in Hume, OH, the daughter of George and Charlotte (Morris) McCune.  She had retired to Ruskin, FL before moving to Ft.Myers  in 2001. 

She is survived by:

Daughter, Cheryl (Don) Stahler of Wapakoneta, OH

Daughter, Judy (Ron) Miller of Ft.Myers, FL

Son, Ted Shelby of Mendon, OH

Daughter, Lynn Montero of Miami, FL

Brother, Harold (Jean) McCune of Mendon, OH

Grandchildren:  Bryan, Jolynda, Ty, Erin

Great-grandchildren: Shelby, Dylan, Nick, Zachary, Ella, Emilee, Seth, Taylor, Sean, Samantha 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Ned E. Shelby; her parents; her brother, Robert McCune. 

Dorothy retired from the St.Marys Police Force, where she had been the first female dispatcher.  She was an avid golfer and played in and won a large number of tournaments.   

She had volunteered at the Barbara Mann Civic Center in Ft.Myers, FL as well as doing volunteer work at Lee Memorial Health Park in Ft.Myers. 

She will be remembered as a someone who always put others first.  She loved her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she greatly loved. 

Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2010 at Miller – Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street in St. Marys. Visitation one hour prior to the services. 

Private family burial will take place at the Kossuth Cemetery in Kossuth, OH.
