Leona A. Schultz, 92, formerly of 1814 Winston Drive in St. Marys, OH died 1:35 a.m. Sunday August 7, 2011 at St. Marys Living Center.
She was born October 29, 1918 in Willowdell, OH to Arthur and Ida (Hehmyer) Hecht.
On November 12, 1939 she married Paul B. Schultz, who died May 24, 1991.
She is survived by:
Son, Wendell (Delores) Schultz of St. Marys, OH
Daughter, Jeannette (Robert) Hare of Celina, OH
5 grandchildren 8 great-grandchildren
Sister, Esther Hecht of Bonita Springs, FL
Brother-in-law, Ernest Burkhart of Springboro, OH
Sister-in-law, Imogene Hecht of St. Marys, OH
5 grandchildren: Malinda (Kevin) Bubp; Christine Hare; Staff Sgt. Gregory (Christina) Hare, USAF; Douglas Hare; Wendee (Jesse) Bertke
8 great-grandchildren: Heather Philpot, Scott Dammeyer, Megan Dammeyer, Cole Bertke, Carter Bertke, Sean Hare, Caleb Bertke, Jackson Hare
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur & Ida Hecht; brother , Carl Hecht; brother, Floyd Hecht; sister, Marcella Burkhart.
She was a 1936 graduate of the former Neptune, OH High School.
She was a homemaker and bus driver for Moulton Local School District. She had also been co-owner of the former S & H Orange Barn in Celina, OH for many years. Her memberships include Trinity Lutheran Church in Moulton, OH, where she was active in the Lutheran Church Women and attended the adult Sunday school class. She had also belonged to the Rural Women’s Club in Auglaize Co. Quliting was her favorite pastime. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends at both Auglaize Co. Council on Aging and Mercer Co. Council on aging.
Funeral services are scheduled 10:00 a.m. Thursday August 11, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moulton, OH with The Rev. Joy Miller, officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West) in St. Marys. Additional visitation after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to: Trinity Lutheran Church Parsonage Fund or Grand Lake Hospice program.
