Norman Henry Schrolucke, 90, formerly of 10472 Plattner Pike, New Knoxville, Ohio, died Wednesday evening, July 27, 2011, at the Saint Marys Living Center.
He was born February 7, 1921, in Van Buren Twp, Shelby County, Ohio, the son of Henry and Louise (Henschen) Schrolucke.
He married LaRue Eversman on July 4, 1943 and she preceded him in death on February 19, 1990.
He is survived by three granddaughters: Lisa (Lynn) Donovan of Lima; Tanya (Scott) Temple of New Bremen; Kris (Tim) Thomas-Vondrell of Lima; by eleven great-grandchildren; by two sons-in-law, Robert Grimes of New Knoxville and John C. Thomas of Lima.
Norman was preceded in death his parents, wife, two daughters: Beth Thomas and Judy Grimes; by a sister, Adella Dammeyer; by two brothers: Ray Schrolucke and Wilson Schrolucke.
Norman was a graduate of New Knoxville High School. He was a lifelong farmer, had sold Moorman Seed and retired from the Hoge Lumber Company in New Knoxville. He was a member of the New Knoxville Historical Society and he loved fishing and walking in his woods. He enjoyed playing cards and always had amazing luck while playing. He also enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville.
Funeral rites were held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, the Reverend Dr. David Williams, officiant. Burial l followed at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery. Friends called from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Saturday at the church, where memorial donations may be directed to Grand Lake Hospice or the Auglaize County Cancer Association.
Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home, 200 West Spring Street in New Knoxville, is in charge of the arrangments.
