Janice R. Schroeder, 74, of 387 Lawrence Road, Delaware, Ohio, died 5:15 A.M. Sunday, September 11, 2011, at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born April 19,1937, in New Knoxville, Ohio, the daughter of Raymond and Aurora (Wierwille) Eversman.
She married Charles Schroeder on March 13, 1954 and he survives at the residence.
She is also survived by her two sons: Robin Schroeder of Delaware, Ohio; Joe (MaryLee)
Schroeder of Martha’s Vineyard, Mass; by four grandchildren: Samantha
Schroeder; Alexia Schroeder; :Michael Schroeder; Whitney Schroeder; by a
sister, Grace Faurot of New Knoxville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by a son, Michael Schroeder.
Janice was a 1955 graduate of New Knoxville High School. She had formerly worked at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in Saint Marys and as a guide at the Bloomfield Hills School Farm. She had worked as a secretary in Elliot Hall at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio for the past 23 years.
Janice was also a wonderful homemaker, wife and mother. She enjoyed writing poetry, traveling, flower gardening, bird watching, and making bouquets of flowers for her church. She loved living on her farm and watching the horses there.
Janice was deeply devoted to her church, the Old Stone Presbyterian Church in Delaware, where she served as a trustee. She was responsible for the new sound system at the church and also the new bell, which rang for the first time on the day of Janice’s death.
A celebration of Janice’s life will be held 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at the Old Stone Presbyterian Church, 41 Hodges Road, Delaware, Ohio, the Reverend Jim Dubois and the Reverend Dick Wierwille, officiants. Friends may call from 11:30 A.M. until the time of services at the church.
A second celebration of her life will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, September 15, 20111 at the church where Janice grew up, the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, Ohio, the Reverend Jim Dubois, the Reverend Dick Wierwille and the Reverend David Williams, officiants. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in New Knoxville.
Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services at the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, where memorial donations may be made to the Old Stone Presbyterian Church.
