David O. Schneider, 83, of 1245 South Knoxville Ave., St.Marys, OH died 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the Valley Nursing Home in St.Marys, OH. 

He was born November 21, 1925 in St.Marys, the son of David and Clara (Schmidt) Schneider. 

He married LaDonna Katterheinrich on May 1, 1949; she preceded him in death.  He married Mary Darnell in 1986 and she preceded him in death in 2006. 

He is survived by:

¨ Daughter, Kristine (Earl) Norcross of Dublin, OH

¨ Step-daughter, Denise Darnell of St.Marys, OH

¨ Step-son, Ray Darnell of Denver, CO

¨ Step-daughter, Rachelle (Bob) Darnell-Kinahan of Denver, CO

¨ 2 step-grandchildren: Josh and Hannah Darnell

¨ 1 step-great-grandson 

Dave was a 1943 graduate of St.Marys Memorial High School.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served as a platoon sergeant and paratrooper with the 503rd Regimental during WWII. 

He retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1987 after 44 years of service.  He was a member of Eagles Lodge #767 in St.Marys and American Legion Post #323.  He was a member of St.Paul’s United Church of Christ in St.Marys.  He enjoyed watching high school sports and the Ohio State Buckeyes.  He loved taking care of his yard. 

Funeral rites will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St.Marys, OH, the Rev. Ed Bray, officiant.  Military burial rites will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery. 

Friends may call from 9:00—11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be directed to St.Paul’s United Church of Christ
