Miriam Schamp, 96, of 726 North Spruce Street, St.Marys, OH, died 4:19 A.M. Saturday, August 9, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in St.Marys, OH. 

She was born January 28, 1912, in Lima, OH, the daughter of Allen and Lillie (Hager) Solomon. 

She married Don Schamp on November 11, 1928; he preceded her in death on December 8, 1999. 

She is survived by her two children:

¨ Daughterm Jeannette (Terry) Putt of Van Wert, OH

¨ Son, Robert (Eileen) Schamp of St.Marys, OH

¨  7 grandchildren: Jennifer Niferd of Van Wert; Angie (David) Hill, Jr of Van Wert; Amanda (Jason) McGarvey of Van Wert; Laurie (Dan) Hawkey of St.Marys; Melissa (Mark) Hegemann of Liberty Township, OH; Anna Maree (Michael) Noonan of Mokena, IL; Mark Schamp of St.Marys

¨ 13 great-grandchildren: Alisha, Bethany, and Jenna Kay Hawkey; Kiley and Josalyn Schamp; Nathan, Josh, Andrew and Alyvia Hegemann; M.J. Noonan; Derek and Lindsey Hill; J.J. McGarvey

¨ Several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, by three sisters: Margaret Hodges, Juanita Telek, and Beatrice Solomon; by two brothers: Grover “Bud” Solomon and Paul Solomon. 

Miriam had worked at the former DWG Cigar Factory, Champion Spark Plugs, St.Marys Woolen Mill and Tastee Treet. She was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in t.Marys and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of Hawthorne Chapter #119, Order of Eastern Star, where she had served as Worthy Matron. She enjoyed china painting, quilting and crocheting.

Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St.Marys, Ohio, the Reverend Mary Kay Brown, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
