Rose Sandkuhl, 85, of Lock 14 Road at Schillinger Road, St.Marys, OH, died 5:39 P.M. Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at her residence following a brief illness. 

She was born September 18, 1922, in Danville, KY, the daughter of George and Ella (Johnston) Matherly. 

She first married Gilbert Storer in 1938; he preceded her in death in 1964. She then married Edwin Wayne Sandkuhl on July 15, 1967; he preceded her in death on November 29, 1985. 

She is survived by:

¨ Son, Ronald (Carol) Storer of New Knoxville, OH

¨ Sister, Adeline Beatty of Seaman, OH

¨ 5 grandchildren: Starla (Rob) Dittman of Wapak; Rita (Keith) Knoch of Uniopolis, OH; Robert Storer Jr. of Wapak, OH; Robin (Robert) Copeland of Wapak, OH; and Rae’Sonya (David) Jaros of St.Marys, OH

¨ 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a son, Robert Storer who died March 27, 2008; by four brothers: James, William, Roscoe and Gene Riley; by a sister, Margaret Garman; a granddaughter, Victoria Storer. 

Rose moved to St.Marys in 1950 from Hillsboro, OH. She retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in St.Marys after 34 years of service. She had formerly belonged to the Church of Christ in Peebles, OH and attended the First Baptist Church in St.Marys.  

She was very actively involved in the Auxiliary of VFW Post 9289 in St. Marys. She loved spending time at the VFW, cooking and being with friends; she attended many VFW conventions over the years and hosted events at her home. She was also a life member of the Eagles 767 Aux and American Legion 323 Aux in St.Marys. She hosted groups from Auglaize School for many years on her farm, giving rides and a picnic to the students and families of that school.

Funeral rites will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 26, 2008, at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.

 

Friends may call from 3-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home, where donations may be directed to St Ritas Hospice.

 

 

She was a great friend and help to many people and will be remembered for her volunteer spirit.
