Declan D. Saintignon, 49, of 15429 Glynwood-New Knoxville Road, Saint Marys, died 7:33 P.M. Monday, February 8, 2010, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, following a seven month battle with cancer.
He was born August 23, 1960, in Saint Marys, the son of Eldon and Bonnie (Ayers) Saintignon. They survive in Saint Marys.
He married Della Reier on October 22, 1983; she survives at the residence. He is also survived by his three children: David Saintignon of Saint Marys; Diana Saintignon of Saint Marys; Dustyn Saintignon of Saint Marys; by his siblings: Debbie (Morey) Drew of Van Wert; Dan (Tina) Saintignon of Fayettville, Arkansas; Diana (John) Sudman of Wapakoneta; Doug (Paula) Saintignon of Beavercreek, Ohio; by his mother-in-law, Thelma Reier of Saint Marys; sisters-in-law Althea (John) Clugston of Cromwell, Indiana; Ellen (Kevin) Paul of New Knoxville; brother-in-law, Bernard (Deb) Reier of Madison, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Leonard Reier.
Declan was a 1978 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. He earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Indiana Purdue University in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was a New Product Design Coordinator at Crown Equipment Corporation in New Bremen.
He was a member of Eagles Lodge 767 in Saint Marys; he was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed camping. He was an excellent cook. He enjoyed HAM Radio. He was an advocate of renewable energy and had built his own solar and wind powered generator for his home. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Saint Marys, Father Anthony Cutcher, celebrant. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-8 P.M. Friday and one hour prior to the Mass at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to CHP Inpatient Hospice in Van Wert.
