Janice F. Richey, 69, of 5321 Mercer-Auglaize County Line Road, Saint Marys, died 6:44 A.M. Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Saint Ritas Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.

She was born May 23, 1941, in Richmond, Indiana, the daughter of Herman and Letha (Allen) Abney.
She married Melvin Harris and he preceded her in death; she married Herbert Richey on February 12, 1993 and he survives at the residence.

She is survived by her two daughters: Sherie (Terry) Elder of Lakeview, Ohio; Diana (Douglas) Charles of Lakeview; by two step-children: Lonnie Richey of Montezuma; Lorraine (Shawn) Moeller of Coldwater, Ohio; by four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five step-grandchildren; by two brothers: Amos Abney of Centerville, Indiana; Bill Abney of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; by two sisters: Wanda Pippin of Richmond, Indiana; Ruth (Ernie) Bufford of Fountain City, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Herman Abney, Jr; her former husband, Melvin Harris.

Janice was retired from Wapak Products where she had been a seamstress. She was a member of the Lake Improvement Association; the Moose Lodge and American Legion Auxiliary in Celina; Eagles 767 Aux. in Saint Marys. She enjoyed bird watching. The focus of her life was being a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

Memorial rites will be held 4:00 P.M. Friday, July 2, 2010, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, Brother Bill Abney, officant.

Private family burial rites will be held.

Friends may call from 2-4 P.M. Friday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to the Auglaize County Cancer Association in lieu of flowers.
