Leonard A. Reier, 83, of 430 North Perry Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, died Friday, November 21, 2008, at Saint Ritas Medical Center, Lima.

He was born September 23, 1925, in Celina, Ohio, the son of Albert and Matilda (Zahn) Reier.

He married Thelma Kemper on June 26, 1948; she survives at the residence.

He is also survived by his four children: Althea (John) Clugston of Cromwell, Indiana; Bernard (Deb) Reier of Madison, Alabama; Della (Declan) Santiagnon of Saint Marys; Ellen (Kevin) Paul of New Knoxville; by 10 grandchildren: Heather Schuller; Shawn Schuller; Adam Reier; Theresa Reier; Monica Reier; David Saintignon; Diana Saintignon; Dustyn Saintignon; Justin Paul; Nikki Paul; by four great-grandchildren:Typhani Schuller; Krystern Leasor; Ethan Schuller and Logan Reier; by one brother: Albert Reier of Wapakoneta; by one sister, Mary Fiebelkorn of Saint Marys.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by one granddaughter, Mandy Reier.

Leonard was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during WWII.

He had retired from Crown Equipment Corporation; he had also worked at Tip and Doe Taxi; Parker Hannifin; Saint Marys Hardware.

He was a life member of VFW Post 9289 and a member of American Legion Post 323 and Eagles Lodge 767 in Saint Marys. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys. He loved woodworking, playing cards and assembling puzzles.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Reverend Anthony Cutcher, celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Monday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Condolences may be conveyed to the family via Millerfuneralhomes.net
