He was born March 23, 1950, in Celina, Ohio, the son of John and Marvel (McMullen) Ramsey.
He married Cindy Goodwin on August 1, 1981; she survives at the residence.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Felicia Ramsey of Lima; John Ramsey of Van Wert; Stacey Ramsey of Van Wert; by a step-son, Roy Goodwin of Saint Marys; by ten grandchildren; by a brother, Ronnie Ramsey of Van Wert.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
John was a graduate of the Dayton International Broadcasting College and he had a long career in radio working as a disc jockey for many radio stations including WKKI, WIMT (T-102), where he was known as “Mad Jack” on the air; WAXC, WCSM and Froggy 94 in Tennessee. He was also known as “John Edwards” on the air. He was an ordained minister, having graduated from the Bible College of Hope Sound, Florida. He was a well known local musician, having played with the Rock Creek Band for more than 20 years as a drummer, guitarist and singer. He had also played with Jess King and Country Gospel for many years. He also enjoyed fishing and working on the computer.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 12, 2008, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, the Reverend Glenn Masser officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to his wife.
