Onolee B “Onnie” Piehl, 89, of 106 West Spring Street, New Knoxville, Ohio, died 8:25 P.M. Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community following an extended illness.
She was born May 16, 1919, in Celina, Ohio, the daughter of William and Imo (Glass) Miller.
She married Woodrow Piehl on September 6, 1947; he preceded her in death on June 17, 1982.
She is survived by her five children: Stephen (Diana) Piehl of Cincinnati; Judy Gross of Wapakoneta; William (Diane) Piehl of New Knoxville; Fred (Diane) Piehl of New Knoxville; Julie (Mike) Pine of Columbia City, Indiana; by one sister, Pauline (Dan) Miesse of Celina; by 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and by one grandson, Woody Piehl.
Onnie was a 1937 graduate of Celina High School. She was a homemaker and she had also worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Saint Marys.
Onnie enjoyed playing cards with her card club, traveling, fishing and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville.
Funeral rites will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 15, 2008, at the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, the Very Reverend David A. Williams, officiant. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in New Knoxville.
Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Friday in the Heritage Room of the First United Church of Christ, where memorial donations may be directed to: Auglaize County Council on Aging; Grand Lake Hospice, Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community or the Radio Broadcast Fund of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, OH.
