Jeffrey W. Opperman, 54, of 10856 Plattner Pike, Saint Marys, Ohio, died Saturday, April 24, 1010, of an apparent suicide.
He was born September 17, 1955, in Saint Marys, the son of Marvin and Earline (Shives) Opperman.
He
married Kendra Wellman on May 28, 1977 and she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by his father, of Saint Marys; by his two children: Ryan
(Krista) Opperman of Saint Marys; Jill (Danni) Schneider of Chicago, Illinois;
by two grandchildren: Lenna and Kayla Opperman; by a sister, Susan (Larry)
Wilkins of Montezuma, Ohio; by his mother-in-law, Marian Wellman of New
Knoxville.
He was preceded in death by his mother and by his father-in-law, Charlie Wellman.
Jeff was a 1973 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. He also graduated from Tri-State University in Angola, Indiana. He was employed in the Material Services Department at Honda of America in Anna.
Jeff was an active member of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, where he had previously served as Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon and Elder. He was a member of the Ranger Athletic Boosters; he enjoyed fishing, golfing, snow and water skiing; boating and camping. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns. He had served as a T-Ball coach in New Knoxville.
Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, the Reverend David Williams, officiant. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Tuesday in the Heritage Room of the First United Church of Christ, where memorial donations may be directed to the First United Church of Christ Building Fund.
