Marvin F. Nuss, 87, of 13845 Glynwood-New Knoxville Road, Saint Marys, died 9:15 P.M. Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Saint Ritas Medical Center in Lima.
He was born August 29, 1922, in Wapakoneta, Ohio, the son of Andy and Clara (Mosler) Nuss.
He married Marie Clausing on June 19, 1948 and she preceded him in death on January 7, 2002.
He is survived by his three children: Elaine (Joe) Mayberry of Columbus Grove, Ohio; Allen Nuss of Saint Marys; Jim Nuss of Saint Marys; by one grandson, Joe W. (Jessica) Mayberry of Findlay; by his twin brother, Melvin Nuss of Wapakoneta; by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Nuss of Saint Marys; a brother-in-law, Robert Longsworth of Wapakoneta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, by a brother, Robert Nuss and by another brother who had died in infancy, Ralph Nuss; by a sister, Bernice Longsworth; by a sister-in-law, Mildred Nuss.
Marvin was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force, having served during WWII.
He was a lifelong farmer and carpenter who had worked for many years at the former Hoenie and Kogge Construction Company.
He was a member of Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ in Saint Marys, where he had served on the consistory and was a former trustee. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed building bird houses; he also loved walking in the woods and seeing wildlife.
Funeral rites for Mr. Nuss will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 31, 2010, at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys. Burial with military honors will take place at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 5-8 P.M Friday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be made to the Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ Memorial Fund or Agape Ministries in Saint Marys.
