Leona L. Nuesmeyer, 87, formerly of 14233 Moulton Ft. Amanda Road, Wapakoneta, Ohio, and most recently of Otterbein Saint Marys, died 11:55 P.M. Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at Otterbein Saint Marys.

She was born December 12, 1921, in Auglaize County, the daughter of Harley and Laura (Dohse) Paglow.

She married Robert Henry Nuesmeyer on October 9, 1940; he preceded her in death on June 30, 1996.

She is survived by her two children: Dennis (Lydia) Nuesmeyer of Mahomet, Illinois; Dianne (Tom) Logan of Saint Marys; by four grandchildren: Ian (Barbara) Nuesmeyer of Champaign, Illinois; Jacqueline Nuesmeyer of Champaign; Denise (Scott) Thede of Greencastle, Indiana; Kathleen Logan (fiance Patrick Coughlin) of Cleveland, Ohio; by two great-grandsons: Michael Robert Thede and Andrew Logan Thede; by a sister-in-law, La Rose ( Garry) Theiss of Lafayette, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Walter Paglow.

Leona was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moulton, where she had been a member of the Ruth Circle and she sang in the church choir. She was a great fan of her grandchildren as they played basketball and softball and supported their musical endeavors. She liked following the Reds as well as a couple pro basketball and football teams. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing everything from pajamas to a wedding dress and a faux fur coat. She did extensive embroidery work too, making a quilt for herself, each child, grandchild and great-grandchild. She enjoyed playing cards and being with family and friends. She liked to read, and she liked to tell people that she “held a degree in TV”.

She had worked for Swonger’s Furniture and the Detjen Grain Company, and later the Koenig Equipment Company in Moulton.

Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday, August 31, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moulton, Ohio, the Reverend Joy Miller, officiant. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Friends may call from 2-5 P.M. Sunday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, where memorial donations may be directed to either Trinity Lutheran Church or Grand Lake Hospice.
