Mary Nelson, 76, of 326 North Front Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, died Monday, June 14, 2010, at her residence, following an extended illness.
She was born August 25, 1933, in Versailles, Ohio, the daughter of Eugene and Margaret (Goubeaux) Roth.
She married Charles Nelson on February 26, 1955 and he survives at the residence.
She is also survived by her six children: Jeff (Susan) Nelson of Celina; Juli (Dave) Sprague of Saint Marys; Thomas (Diane) Nelson of Saint Marys; Lynette (John) Klopfenstein of Ocala, Florida; John (Rachael) Nelson of Saint Marys; Jay Nelson of Saint Marys; by 18 grandchildren: Christopher Nelson; Kelly Jo Sprague; Kevin Sprague; Kyle Sprague; Emma Nelson; Kaci Nelson, Clay Nelson, Ian Nelson; Justin Klopfenstein; Joel Klopfenstein; Jordan Klopfenstein; Lyndsay Nelson; Sydney Nelson, Zac Nelson; Correy Nelson; Chloe Nelson; McKenzie Nelson, Ashley Dennis; 7 great-grandchildren: Brittany Steinbrunner Madison Sprague; Hailee Sprague; Kennedy Sprague; Cullen Sprague; Noah Payne; Hannah Jennerette; by a sister, Jeannie Anderson of Saint Marys; a brother, Dick Roth of Wapakoneta.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by a sister, Katherine Roth; a brother, John Roth; an infant brother Arthur Roth; an infant sister, Isadore Roth.
Mary was a 1953 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. She and her husband were the owners of Nelson’s Body Shop and Towing Service in Saint Marys. She had worked as a childcare provider for many years at the former Saint Marys Daycare Center. She enjoyed gardening and had been a Boy Scout Den Mother for many years.
She is a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Saint Marys.
Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, June 18, 2010, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, the Reverend Bill Maki, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to the Humane Society of Auglaize County.
