Olga Elizabeth (Merkle) Nave, age 91, of Rockford, OH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 09, 2011, at Swan Creek Nursing Home, Toledo, OH.
Born March 13, 1920 in Van Wert, OH to the late Lewis & Bertha (Parker) Merkle.
She graduated from Rockford High School of which she was also a secretary. Olga was a nursing home aid at Smith Nursing Home, Brownie and Girl Scout leader, Village of Rockford clerk, First Presbyterian Church Sunday school teacher and an officer of the church. She was an avid gardener and member of the Rockford Garden Club. She volunteered for many years at Shane Hill Nursing home. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family, and was well known for her pies, especially rhubarb custard.
Olga met her loving husband, Ralph H. Nave, while waitressing at the Celina Coffee Shop. Ralph was employed at the Brookside Dairy in New Knoxville, OH. They married in December of 1942. Ralph passed away in 1993.
Olga is survived by her three children Kathy Nave of Maumee, OH; Pamela (Richard) Walen of Toledo, OH; and Scott (Jody) Nave of Sandusky, OH.
She is survived by siblings Margaret (Lloyd) Baker of St. Marys, OH and David (Barb) Merkle of Ohio City, OH; sister-in-law, Jennie Merkle of Montezuma, OH and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Olga was preceded in death by siblings Marie (Merkle) Lessner, Lewis (Jennie) Merkle, Martha (Merkle) Pudsey, and brother-in-laws Lloyd Baker and Ralph Pudsey.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 14, 2011, at Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home in St. Marys, OH. Visitation will be from 10 am to 11 am. Reverend Richard Hays will officiate the funeral service and interment immediately following at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, OH.
