John  B. Moorman, Sr., 68, of 237 North Spruce Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, died 11:28 A.M. Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Saint Ritas Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.

He was born March 18, 1941, in North Star, Ohio, the son of John and Alvina (Schmalstig) Moorman.

He married Darlene J. Castle on September 10, 1965; she survives at the residence.

He is survived by his six children: Dawn (John) Kern of Sidney; Dianna (Dan) Jolly of Sidney; Deanna (Dan) Gates of Saint Marys; Darla Moorman of Sidney; Lela (Bruce) Jones of Sidney; John B. (Mary) Moorman, Jr. of Saint Marys; by 26 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; by three brothers: George Moorman of Sidney; Jerry Moorman of Sidney; Donald Moorman of Fort Loramie; by two sisters: Mary Jane Sherman of Sidney and Patricia Moorman of Greenville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers: Kenny and Dicky Moorman; by two sisters: Barbara and Alice Moorman.

John was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam Conflict. He retrired from Hobart Corporation in Troy, Ohio, where he had been a sheet metal specialist.
He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney; a member of the DAV and American Legion, both in Sidney; he enjoyed camping and fishing.

Funeral rites will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Father Anthony Cutcher, officiant. Private family burial rites will be held. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 323 and VFW Post 9289 on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Friends may call from noon until the time of services at the funeral home on Tuesday.
