Carole L. Miller, 75, of 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, died 5:14 P.M. Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community.

She was born September 1, 1934, in Mansfield, Ohio, the daughter of Ralph and Helen (Roberts) Steele.

She is survived by her three sons: J. Martin (Traci) Miller of Saint Marys; Kent (Mary) Miller of New Knoxville; Brent (Michele) Miller of Saint Marys; by her eight grandchildren: Jennifer Miller, Lauren Miller, Katie Miller, Ingrid Miller, Kaj Miller; Brent Miller II; Breanna Miller and Xavier Miller; by her sister, Portia Elaine Phillips of Kenton, Ohio; by her brother, Jerry Steele of Saint Marys; numerous nieces and nephews; by her best friend since childhood, Connie Finke of Saint Marys.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Marcia Miller; by a sister, Marjorie Brodbeck; by her former husband, John R. Miller.

Carole was a 1952 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. She was the founder and co-owner of Miller Funeral Home and Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, both in Saint Marys, and the Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home in New Knoxville.

She enjoyed the local history of Saint Marys, reading, walking, and shopping .She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was always interested in their lives. She was very kind to animals. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and her generosity to those less fortunate than she.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Saint Marys, where she had been active in the Zion Lutheran Church Women.

Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Saint Marys, the Reverend William Maki and the Reverend Anthony Cutcher, officiants. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Monday at the Miller Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 8:00 P.M. Memorial donations may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church in Saint Marys.
