Martha J. McGee, 86, a resident of the Cedars in Leo, Indiana, and formerly of Saint Marys, Ohio, died 11:35 A.M. Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at the Cedars.

She was born March 19, 1924, in Mendon, Ohio, the daughter of Walter and Myrtle (Lampy) Skinner.

She married Howard McGee on June 8, 1946; he preceded her in death on November 16, 1989.

She is survived by her two children: Ed (Madelyn “Mattie”) Pfeister of Huntertown, Indiana; Patricia (Bill) Cook of Grabill, Indiana; by a step-son, John McGee of Tipp City, Ohio; by nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Dan McGee; three sisters and one brother.

Martha had worked on the family farm for many years and had also previously worked at Goodyear Saint Marys and Priess Shoes in Saint Marys. She was also the owner of the Fort Barbee Hotel in Saint Marys.

She was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church in Saint Marys; was a proud Republican Committee Woman and former Presiding Judge of Noble Township. She was a big fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes; Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Browns.

She will be remembered as a great cook and pie baker.

Funeral rites will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 28, 2010, at the Wayne Street United Methodist Church in Saint Marys, the Reverend Jon Kraner, officiant. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
