Freedus A. McDermitt, 91, of 21099 Saint Marys River Road, Spencerville, Ohio, died 4:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at the Gardens of Wapakoneta.

He was born June 16, 1917, in Glynwood, Ohio, the son of Elroy and Onis (Craft) McDermitt.

He married Mildred Howell on November 30, 1940; she preceded him in death on August 10, 2003.

He is survived by:

¨ Brother, Robert (Linda) McDermitt, St.Marys, OH

¨ Brother Norman (Hyla) McDermitt, St.Marys, OH

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers: Guy and Joseph McDermitt; by three sisters: Margaret Wehnes, Evelyn Wheeler and Betty Rumpff.

Freedus was a retired farmer and he had also worked at the Weston Paper Mill in Saint Marys and Bio-Tek in Spencerville.

He attended Walnut Grove Methodist Church. He loved fishing and hunting. He owned and operated a vegetable truck patch for many years and sold his produce to area grocers, especially his sweet corn.

Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, the Reverend Mary Kay Brown, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to Walnut Grove Methodist Church. Condolences may be sent to the family via Millerfuneralhomes.net
