Dorothy L. “Dottie” Lynn, 68, of 312 Marsh Drive, Saint Marys, died 11:24 A.M. Friday, December 31, 2010, at her residence.

She was born September 29, 1942, in Decatur, Indiana, the daughter of Arthur and Faye (Martin) Scheiderer.

She married Charles Lynn on October 15, 1966, and he survives at the residence.

She is also survived by her four children: Amy (David) Winner of Defiance, Ohio; Douglas (Melissa) Lynn of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Betsy (Eric) Schurg of Woodburn, Indiana; Brian Lynn of Marion, Indiana; by five grandchildren: Matthew and Katie Winner; Sarah and Ryan Lynn; Brady Schurg; by two sisters: Barbara Miller of Harlan, Indiana; Sarah (Carl) Ziegenfus of Allentown, Pa; by a sister-in-law, Beverly Scheiderer of Woodburn, Indiana.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Paul Scheiderer.

She was a 1961 graduate of Woodland High School in Woodburn, Indiana; a 1964 graduate of the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Wayne.

Dottie retired after more than twenty years of service at Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community, where she served as Director of Health Care. Dottie considered her career there as a ministry, serving the healthcare needs of residents and helping them to feel part of the Otterbein Community. She was a member of New Community Church in Saint Marys. She served on the Board of Directors of Harbor House in Celina; Hilty Home in Pandora and the Family Life Center of Auglaize County. She enjoyed participating in Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and thoughtful friend who served God by serving others.

Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Grace Missionary Church in Celina, the Reverend Tom Schwind and Reverend Dale Leinbach, officiants. Burial rites will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Decatur Cemetery in Decatur, Indiana.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the church, where memorial donations may be directed to Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community; The Hilty Home in Pandora; Auglaize County Family Life Center or New Community Church Building Fund in Saint Marys.
