Lawrence “Larry” Luthman, 86, of 106 Clearview Court, Saint Marys, died 3:25 P.M. Monday, September 15, 2008, at the Saint Marys Living Center.
He was born March 24, 1922, in Fort Loramie, Ohio, the son of John and Rosa (Hoying) Luthman.
He married Ruth Harting on July 26, 1947; she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by his six children: Betty (Robert) Zircher of Minster; John (Michelle) Luthman of Anderson, Indiana; Jane (Nicholas) Fleck of Celina; Ron (Sue) Luthman of Saint Marys; Dave Luthman of Saint Marys; Tom (Michelle) Luthman of Coldwater; by 14 grandchildren, 1great-grandchild; by one sister, Alma Overman of Dayton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Eddie and Jerry Luthman who died in infancy; by one sister, Colletta Schwieterman; by four brothers: Henry, Urban, Paul and Herman Luthman.
Larry was a 1941 graduate of the former Maria Stein High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during WWII.
He retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Saint Marys after more than 40 years of service.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, and the Knights Of Columbus; Eagles Lodge 767 and American Legion Post 323, all in Saint Marys. He was an avid fisherman and gardener.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 20, 2008, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Saint Marys, Father Anthony Cutcher, celebrant. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
Friends may
call from 2-8 P.M. Friday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint
Marys, and one hour prior to the mass on Saturday, where memorial donations may
be directed to either the Friends of Holy Rosary Church or State of the Heart
Hospice.
