John M. “Jack” Lunz, 75, of 302 Columbia Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, died 4:40 A.M. Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Lima Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness.
He was born June 3, 2011, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Alvin E. and Cora (Myers) Lunz.
He married Sally Silvers on September 22, 1961 and she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by his two sons: John E (Jennifer) Lunz of Saint Marys; David (Melissa) Lunz of Saint Marys; by three grandchildren: Jacqueline Lunz; Jarrett Lunz; Trevor Lunz; by one sister, Dorothy Stockweather of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by three brothers: Herbert Lunz; Charles Lunz; Eugene Lunz; by two sisters: Mary Grissom and Betty Rensch.
John was
a 1953 graduate of Blume High School in Wapakoneta. He was a veteran of the
United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from
the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Saint Marys after 29 years of service.
He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 9289 in Saint Marys.
John was an avid coin collector and a member of the Tri-County Coin Club. He
enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the First
Friends Church in Saint Marys.
Funeral rites will be held 7:30 P.M. Friday, June 3, 2011, at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, the Reverend Charles Richtmyer officiating. Private family burial rites will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 5:30-7:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to the Tri-County Coin Club.
