John W. Lockhart, 64, of 906 Kimberly Drive, St.Marys, OH, died 7:13 A.M. Tuesday, September 2, 2008, in the emergency department of Joint Township Hospital in St.Marys, after suffering an apparent heart attack. 

He was born December 30, 1943, in Peru, IN, the son of Byron and Vera (Rust) Lockhart.

He married Patricia Ann Paddock of June 1, 1968; she survives at the residence. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:

¨ Daughter, Natasha (Andrew) Catlin of Bay Village, OH

¨ 2 grandchildren: Ethan and Claire Catlin

¨ 3 sisters: Elinor Bettis of Glen Gardner, NJ; Jane Hagendorf of East Hanover, NJ; Joan (Stan) Williams of Tipton, IN

¨ Mother-in-law, Helen Paddock of Yorktown, Indiana. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his father-in-law, Durward Paddock. 

John was a 1961 graduate of Eastern High School in Greentown, IN; a 1966 graduate of Purdue University with a BS in Agricultural Engineering. He retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in St.Marys, Ohio, where he had worked for many years as a development engineer.

Funeral rites will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 6,2008 at the Converse Church of Christ, 301 East Wabash St., Converse, IN, the Rev. Rob Schwarze officiant.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown, IN.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St.Marys, OH where memorial donations may be directed to the Thomas Howard Scholarship Fund.  Friends may also call one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.

He loved farming, gardening, reading and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
