Geraldine C Leohner, age 97, died Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Wesley Glen Retirement Community where she had lived for the past six years.
She was born in Rockbridge, OH, on Wednesday, June 24, 1914, the third daughter of William and Blanche (Starner) Primmer.
On September 26, 1936, she married Robert Grant Leohner who preceded her in death on May 31, 1977 after 40 years of marriage.
They had one child: Jeanne Leohner Woodyard.
Geri grew up attending the Rockbridge Advent Christian Church, after her marriage she was part of the Beulah EUB church in Baltimore, OH. When they moved to Columbus they joined the Minerva Park United Methodist Church, and when she moved to Wesley Glen she became a member of the Maize Manor United Methodist. During her many years in the church she worked with children, lead music, directed choirs, taught classes and played the piano to the glory of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her daughter, two sisters: Ruth Tucker and Helen Beougher, and her grandson Toby Woodyard.
She is survived by her sister Rhea McKown in Palm Harbor, FL, son-in-law David Woodyard, granddaughter Jennifer (Pete) Radulski, and her two favorite great grandsons, Cohl and Mason Radulski.
A special thanks to the caring 6th floor staff at Wesley Glen, the HomeReach Hospice team, and her very faithful friend Patty Fry.
A celebration of Geri's life will be held at Maize Manor United Methodist at 4:30p.m., Sunday, September 11, 2011, 3901 Maize Rd., Columbus, OH with Pastor Gloria Brooks officiating.
A visitation
time will precede the service beginning at 2:00pm. Arrangements by MILLER
