Roger Dean Leffel, 68, died at his residence on June 26, 2007 after fighting a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) for 6 years.
Roger was born March 22, 1939 in Kossuth, OH, the son of Roy and Koneta (Place) Leffel; they preceded him in death.
He married Rose Evelyn Pohlman, who survives at the residence and who gave him excellent care during his illness.
He is also survived by:

· Daughter, Michelle “Shelly” Leffel, St.Marys, OH
· Daughter, Diane (Gary) Steinbrunner, St.Marys, OH
· Son, Doug (Connie) Leffel, St.Marys, OH
· 10 grandchildren: Emily, Elaine, Eric, Kyle and Karen Schaaf; Luke, Derek and Courtney Leffel; Brian and Cory Steinbrunner
· Sister, Fern Johns, St.Marys, OH
He was preceded in death by his parents and three infant grandsons.
He was educated in the St.Marys school system, first at Noble School and then a 1957 graduate of St.Marys Memorial High School. He was retired from the St.Marys Post Office after serving as a rural mailman for 17 years. He was a life-long farmer who enjoyed the farm. He was the Clerk of Noble Township for 36 years, on the Board of Directors for the start-up of the current Auglaize County Provico, and he greatly enjoyed the interactions with people that his work provided him. Roger liked to collect John Deere memorabilia, restoring antique tractors, doing carpentry, following Ohio sports teams, especially the Reds and the Browns. He was a devoted father and grandfather who loved to attend their activities.
He was a faithful member of the St.Paul’s United Church of Christ in St.Marys, OH.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2007 at St.Paul's United Church of Christ, 201 N. Perry St., St.Marys, OH, the Rev. John Tostrick officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St.Marys, OH.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 28, 2007 at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High St., St.Marys, OH from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to the St.Paul's UCC Endowment Fund, The St.Rita's Hospice, or the University of Michigan Department of Neurology.
