Jack R. Kuenning

Jack R. Kuenning, 68, of 1112 Motz Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, died Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in Saint Marys.

 

He was born July 24, 1941, in Saint Marys, the son of Wilbur and Ada (Bertke) Kuenning. They preceded him in death.

 

He married Dixie Mueller on March 2, 1974 and she survives at the residence.

 

He is survived by one son, Travis (Chris) Kuenning of Saint Marys; by two brothers: Edward (Wilma) Kuenning of Celina; Reverend Kenneth (Delores) Kuenning of Moline, Illinois; by two grandchildren: Natalie Kuenning and Travis Kuenning; by an aunt, Eldine (Merlin) Blumhorst of New Bremen.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

He attended Saint Marys City Schools.

  

Jack was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served as a police officer for the City of Saint Marys for 25 years. Jack was an excellent woodworker and master cabinet builder. He traveled to Japan to take part in the Sister City home building program. He was a life member of the NRA and a firearms instructor; he was previously an instructor for the Saint Marys Junior Rifle Club. He was an active leader in the Explorer Scout unit, especially their wilderness canoe adventures. He will be missed by the family that he loved very dearly.

 

He was a member of Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ in Saint Marys.

 

Funeral rites will be held 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, the Reverend Ed Bray, officiant. Private family burial rites will be held.

 

Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to the Auglaize County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #76.
