Vernon H. Kuck, 91, of 12139 St. Rt. 29, Saint Marys, died 12:57 P.M. Sunday, December 12, 2010, at the Saint Marys Living Center.
He was born September 27, 1919, at the family farm near Saint Marys, the son of Martin and Lydia (Wierwille) Kuck.
He married Ruth Poppe on June 12, 1943, and she survives at the residence.
He is survived by his four children: Ronald (Carol) Kuck of Columbus; Susan (David) Allen of Wooster, Ohio; Ted (Kay) Kuck of Saint Marys; Jay (Cheryl) Kuck of Saint Marys; by thirteen grandchildren: Crysten (Brendan) Nageotte of Powell, Ohio; Melissa Kuck of Dayton; David (Heather) Kuck of Westerville; Joshua (Andrea) Kuck of Fremont; Keri (Kurt) Oberle of Charleston, South Carolina; Lindsey Kuck of Charleston; Karl (Abi) Kuck of New Knoxville, Ohio; Stuart Kuck of Saint Marys; Lara (Jack) Liou of Cincinnati; Tynan Kuck of Cincinnati; Katrina (Jason) Boylan of Columbus; Calen Kuck of Dayton; Jace Kuck of New Knoxville; by eleven great-grandchildren; by a sister, Marian Kuck of New Knoxville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Paul Kuck. Vernon graduated from New Knoxville High School in 1937. He was a dairy and crop farmer, and founded, along with his wife, Kuck’s Turkey Farm. He was interested in aviation and became a licensed pilot. He was a member of the Wapakoneta Flying Club.
After retirement, Vernon served in Roving Volunteer’s in Christ’s Service for eleven years, spending three months per year in the south.
He was a member of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, where he had served as a deacon and elder. He was also a member of the Gideons International.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 16, 2010, at the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, the Reverend David Williams and Pastor Joshua Kuck, officiants. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday in the Heritage Room of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, where memorial donations may be directed to either Gideons International or the Radio Broadcast Fund of the church.
