Allen “Bud” Knous, 85, of 15745 River Road, Saint Marys, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.
He was
born August 14, 1925, in Saint Marys, the son of Clifford and Stella (Gallimore)
Knous.
He married Ellen McCollum on August 23, 1943 and she preceded him in death on
September 18, 2002.
He is survived by his three children: Dixie Lee (James) Plush of Hillsdale, Michigan; Hank Knous of Denver, Colo; Gary (Julie) Knous of Celina; by six grandchildren: James Plush; Shaun Plush; Gail Plush; Theresa Knous; Mary Knous; Mark Knous; by twelve great--grandchildren; by one great-great-grandchild; by five brothers: Simon (Myrtle) Knous of Saint Marys; James (Jackie) Knous of Celina; Lloyd (Patricia) Knous of Decatur, Indiana; Paul (Patsy) Knous of Saint Marys; Charles (Carol) Knous of Saint Marys; by four sisters: Louise Long of Indianapolis; Joice (James) Scherer of New Carlisle, Ohio; Inez Jacobs of Saint Marys; Julia Huff of Saint Marys; by a sister-in-law, Mary McCollum of Saint Marys.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three grandchildren; two brothers: Don Knous and Wesley Knous; by one sister, Evelyn Sorenson.
Bud was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during WWII. He retired from the Doehler Jarvis Corporation, where he had served as a Die Cast Supervisor at plants in Toledo, England, and New York. In later years he worked as a truck driver, delivering parts manufactured at Auglaize Industries. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 21, 2011, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, the Reverend Bill Drummond, officiant. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to the Saint Marys Church of the Nazarene.
