Russell H. King, 85, a resident of Otterbein Saint Marys, died 12:40 A.M. Thursday, December 6, 2007, at Otterbein Saint Marys.
He was born February 20, 1922, in Grabill, Indiana, the son of George and Ida (Zerbe) King.
He married Eileen Stevenson on June 18, 1946; she preceded him in death on April 5, 2005.
He is survived by his four children: Larry (Barbara) King of Buffalo Grove, Illinois; Judy (David) Sims of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Tim King of Denver, Colorado; Sandra (John) Mulholland of Chicago, Illinois; by one brother, Tom King of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Russell was blessed with six grandchildren: Patricia Drexler, Steven Miller, Jr, Ryan and Colin Sims, Erin and Brendon Mulholland; by two great-grandchildren.
Russell was a 1940 graduate of Grabill High School and a graduate of Northwestern University. He was a veteran of the United States Navy Seabees.
Russell was a civil engineer and architect. He and his wife served as Christian missionaries with the United Methodist Church, first doing reconstruction work in the Phillipines from 1948-1951 and then designing all types of buildings in India from 1951-1978.
He was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church in Saint Marys. He was an avid stamp collector and also had a large collection of elephant statues.
Services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 12, 2008 at the Meyer Community Chapel of the Otterbein Retirement Community, with the Rev. Carol Sainey, officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Saturday at Otterbein.
