LeRoy Erret Kennedy, 85, of St.Marys, OH died 2:08 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St.Marys, OH. 

He was born March 13, 1924 in Nortonville, KY, the son of Albert and Bessie Mae (Oldham) Kennedy. 

He married Lois Carroll and  she preceded him in death. 

He is survived by:

¨ Daughter, Martha Ann Kennedy of Columbus, OH

¨ Daughter, Karen (Patrick) Howick, St.Marys, OH 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Dorothea Kennedy, and by a grandson, Andrew Howick. 

He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  He graduated from the University of Louisville in 1949 and earned his juris doctorate from Stetson University in 1951.  He had worked as an attorney in the insurance industry for many years, including serving as Vice President of the Celina Insurance Group from 1961-69; President and CEO of Northwestern National Insurance Company from 1961-69; served on the Board of Directors of the Northwestern National Insurance Company, Milwaukee, WI; DePaul Rehabilitation Hospital in Milwaukee; DePaul Health Systems; Wisconsin Heritages, Inc.; Milwaukee Hearing Society.  He was noted in Who’s Who in America in 1984.  He had taught Business Law at the Ohio Northern University.   

He was also a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church in St.Marys; St.Marys Kiwanis; served as a volunteer at Agape Ministries in St.Marys and at Joint Township Hospital in St.Marys.  He was a proud member of the Saint Andrews Society.  He belonged to the American Legion.

Funeral rites will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 1,2009 at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High Street, St.Marys, OH.  Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St.Marys, OH. 

Friends may call from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where memorial donations may be directed to Agape Ministries.
