Marcella “Marcie” Kattrheinrich, 96, of 218 N. Main St., New Knoxville, OH, and a resident of the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Minster, OH died 9:23 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Joint Township Hospital in St.Marys, OH.
She was born September 11, 1912 in New Knoxville, the daughter of Oscar and Matilda (Vordemark) Beickman.
She married Robert Katterheinrich on July 18, 1937; he preceded her in death on January 18, 1996.
She is survived by:
¨ Son, Ted (Patricia) Katterheinrich of Bellevue, WA
¨ Daughter, Sally (Michael) Bauer of Issaquah, WA
¨ 2 granddaughters: Mikaela and Mackenzie Bauer
¨ Close family friend, Cathy Varno of New Knoxville
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters: Olga Weiskettle and Betty Jane Beickman.
Marcella was a 1930 graduate of New Knoxville High School. She had worked as a bookkeeper at the creamery in New Bremen, OH. She also assisted in the ownership and operation of Katterheinrich Plumbing and Heating in New Knoxville, OH.
She was a lifelong member of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, where she was a member of the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class. She loved taking care of her home and family. In high school she was an excellent basketball player and played on the girls’ county championship team.
Funeral rites will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2009 at the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, the Very Rev. Dr. David Williams and the Rev. Dr. Kim Katterheinrich, officiants. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville, OH.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 Sunday at the Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home, 200 West Spring St., New Knoxville, were memorial donations may be directed to the Radio Broadcast Fund of the Church.
